How long does interior car detailing actually take?

Detailing time isn't fixed — it's driven by carpet condition, pet hair load, and how recently the vehicle was last cleaned. Here are honest ranges by tier.

Real timing by tier

Full Detail: 2 to 3 hours. Sedans and recently-detailed vehicles sit at the lower end; SUVs, trucks, and vehicles that haven't been detailed in a year sit at the upper end.

Signature Detail: 4 to 5 hours. Carpet shampoo and extraction is the longest single step (about 60-90 minutes). Most family vehicles land at 4.5 hours.

Black Label Detail: half a day to a full day. Realistic range is 5 to 8 hours. Heavy pet hair cases and severe odor cases sit at the upper end.

What drives the variance

Carpet condition is the single biggest variable. Lightly-soiled carpet extracts in two passes; heavily-soiled carpet needs 4 to 6 passes.

Pet hair load. A vehicle with daily long-haired dog rides can add 30 to 60 minutes of pet hair work.

Stain count and age. A few fresh coffee stains are quick; 5-year-old mystery stains take longer.

Vehicle size. A Chevy Tahoe interior is roughly twice the work of a Honda Civic interior at the same condition.

What happens during the appointment

First 20 minutes: vehicle assessment, valuables and trash check, initial vacuum.

Next 60-90 minutes: deep wipe-down of every surface; glass; mats; door jambs.

Next 60-120 minutes (Signature+): carpet and upholstery shampoo and hot-water extraction.

Next 30-90 minutes (Signature+): stain treatment and steam cleaning.

Final 20 minutes: surface protection, fragrance, walkthrough.
